An independent label out of Portland releasing ambient, post-punk and experimental electronic music — vinyl first, digital second, always mastered for the format it was written for.

Lowfield started in a Portland basement in 2014 as a way to get friends' tape loops onto something that would survive longer than a hard drive. Eleven years and 61 releases later, the basement is now a proper mastering room, but the standard hasn't moved: if it doesn't sound right on a needle, it doesn't go out.
We press everything in-house runs of 300 to 1,000 copies, work directly with a single pressing plant we've used since year two, and turn down records that are "vinyl releases" in name only — mixed for streaming and pressed as an afterthought.
